Youth Riding Lessons

$60.00 for 1 hour, $110 for 2 Hours

Horseback riding is a fun recreational activity, but it offers many intrinsic benefits for children as well.

At Well Balanced Horsemanship I utilize the fun of horseback riding as a mode to teach life skills such as communication, reasoning, problem solving, confidence, responsibility, multi tasking, planning ahead and leadership.

Horseback riding improves balance, mental processing, hand-eye coordination, core strength and muscular strength as well as improving physical and mental development

Working with horses has been shown to improve cognitive abilities in many children. In some cases, an improvement in brain-based skills may lead to enhanced learning, memory and problem-solving.

"Bret is patient, knowledgeable, and friendly. I am truly impressed with how incredible he is with the horses and pony. He clearly knows what he is doing. My daughter is quickly gaining confidence and skill as she learns to ride and she is having so much fun!! Bret is a great role model and my daughter counts down the days until it is time to go back." - Lisa G.

Studies show how the effects of horses can improve children’s learning ability. The movements of the horses during riding may improve learning in children by activating the sympathetic nervous system.

As a child progresses in their horse handling and riding skills, they develop self-confidence and self-assurance.

Horseback riding offers a great workout for both the mind and body, physically boosting the cardiovascular system and easing stress in the mind. Today, where children are exposed to so much external stimuli, they need healthy, and relaxing down time.

The therapeutic and psychological benefits of horse riding can be of equal importance to your child as the physical benefits.

"I chose riding lessons for my 13 yr old daughter based on reviews. Brett does not disappoint. Extremely knowledgeable, calm and thorough when it comes to direction. Facility and animals are very well taken care of. I love supporting local family business. Highly recommend by myself and my daughter." - Annemarri P.

Horse riding as a sport helps in creating a disciplined child. It teaches a lot of self-discipline and can increase your child’s patience levels as well as help define their focus and control.

There are emotional benefits to be derived from horseback riding as well. One of the first things that a young rider learns, is to act confidently in the face of fear and uncertainty.  This is because if the rider appears scared of something, the horse senses this and will feel the fear as well. Horses are very sensitive to the emotions of their riders and will often mirror those emotions.

Riding is a brilliant way to bring shy children out of their shells. Children who are by nature timid, often open up around horses.  Horses never judge or bully, instead they can seem especially in tune with a rider’s troubles and are a mirror of what we put into them.

Our favorite thing to do is working with youth and teaching them to ride and care for horses.

Schedule a lesson today and give your child a rewarding opportunity to develop a sense of pride and accomplishment!
